Scanner Recommendations for pVault and Sage Paperless

The main requirement when selecting a scanner for use with Paperless is that TWAIN Drivers must be available. You can typically verify whether a scanner has TWAIN Drivers available by checking the manufacturer's Technical Specifications for the model in question.

While most TWAIN-compliant scanners should work fine with Paperless, we have determined that customers have had very good success with the following:

1. Ricoh-Fujitsu Fi Series

2. Canon DR Series

Customers often ask us about the Fujitsu ScanSnap series. While they are cost-effective, the ScanSnap series does not have TWAIN Drivers available, so they are not supported.

Other specifications to consider when deciding on a scanner:

1. Pages Per Minute or PPM (scanner speed)

2. Daily Duty Cycle (number of scans per day for which the scanner is rated)
   
   NOTE -- For customers who want to run pVault or Sage Paperless in a Microsoft RDS Environment, please be aware that Microsoft RDS client redirection does not support TWAIN. In that type of setup, we recommend using Folder Watch or the Email Importer functions.
